One of the Wealthiest People in the World
It is Thanksgiving morning and I am thinking about the innumerable ways that GOD blesses my life every day (in fact, every single moment of every day). In the midst of this pondering, I realize that I am simply thankful to be thankful. GOD has given me the grace to see that everything I have, and I mean EVERYTHING, is a gift from Him. I have done absolutely nothing to earn, achieve or deserve what I have. Rather He has chosen to give all of this to me freely, generously and abundantly. I find myself humbled that He would place so many things in my life and allow me the privileged joy of experiencing such a wealth of possessions, friends and health.
My prayer today is two-fold. First, I pray that I will never come to the place where I think otherwise. What a tragedy to think that I deserve anything I have or that I’ve done enough to earn abundance. I want to die with a heart of gratitude that GOD has graciously allowed me to have a life of abundance. Second, I pray that I will be found faithful in sharing this abundance with others. I am one of the wealthiest people in the world. I really am. And I have the fantastic opportunity to live in a time and a place where I can pass along to others the resources that GOD has given me. I want to live my life as a giver, not a getter. So I am grateful for the chance to give to people who do not have these kinds of good things in their lives, some of them struggling to survive. I want to take advantage of every chance to share.
As I sit down with family to eat a sumptuous feast of turkey, ham and other delicious dishes, I will do so with thanksgiving to GOD for a heart that sees more clearly His good, generous and gracious hand in my life. And I pray that I always will. “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good.”
